Flintknappers
« on: May 27, 2008, 07:09:00 AM »
I was wondering if anybody has any small scraps of flint they would be willing to send me?

One of my other hobbies is primitive fire-starting. My favorite method is flint and steel, but good flint is hard to come by here in NJ. A couple weeks ago Sal and I spent several hours poking around a local stream bed, and while we found some rocks that would give some sparks, there was nothing that could be flaked down to a manageable size.

I'd much rather give someone here a couple bucks for a few pieces than spend the exorbitant prices some of the online suppliers want ($7 plus S&H for 3 small flakes of English black flint!)
