nock high, nock high

no matter where i put my nocking point, i bareshaft and paper tune nock high. i know ken beck of BW says the odd person does this. we all want great flight from our arrows and the benefits that come with it. my arrows are spined well as i only get vertical tears in the paper. any help any one?

I have one of BW videos, and they did say that . He had said to try to raise up your nocking point a little.this is to try to get it so the feather end is higher then the point end upon release, so the nock end doesnt end up hitting the shelf. You might want to make sure you are not twisting the string when you draw back... Good luck

when bareshaft tuning you need to keep the bow straight up & down... also if You shoot split fingers try 3 under.

This is often caused by the way the bow is tillered. I know of two or three brands that nearly always do this. What brand bow is this?

The reason the odd person does this is torking the string, which is usely caused by high elbow and or to much prsure on the ring finger. try consentrating on these and see what happens. sorry about spelling but in a hurry.

If you cant the bow, you may be getting nock left that just appears to be high. As already said try  straight up..

Ozy use a piece of leather or whatever to build up where your arrow sits on the shelf so that it is no wider than your arrow and about 1/8 in higher than the rest of the shelf, sort of a mini shelf on your bows shelf where the arrow sits, and problem should go away.

I agree with Jack if you must shoot off the shelf.Also a stick on arrow rest should fix it.

I have the same issue when bareshafting. I have used a piece of peep tubing covered in velcro to raise the contact point of my shelf and also shoot with minimal pressure on my index finger(split grip). This has helped, but I still get nock high bareshafts. I do not find it a problem once I switch to fletched arrows though. I bareshafted some Bemans just yesterday from my Morrison recurve and though I got nock high, barely weak bareshaft results, the fletched arrows show perfect arrow flight(nothing but spinning ball of feathers).

bow is damon howatt hunter recurve 58" 55#@28". i use a vertical bow when bareshafting. i'll try building up the shelf as it is pretty wide. thanks for the help. oh and check my form.

Bet the shaft is hitting the shelf out away from the side plate and lower than where it sits in the free state.

I'm tring to figure out the why myself I can get excellent arrow flight with bare shafts or BH tipped arrows even with the shaft impact but it shouldn,t hit and I wanna know why.....

this is a common problem that I've noticed on 3 of my 4 sticks,the first one may have been too but I didn,t know any better LOL

What I've done to see thw impact is use a crayon to mark the shelf where I suspcted the impact due to excess wear.It leaves a line on the shaft which hits before it leaves the string by quite a bit
