Lead core?
« on: May 31, 2008, 08:21:00 AM »
Lead core fishing line - I use weighted tubes in my axis shafts. thinking that some oead core fishing line would fit in the weight tube well (glued in). Would be a way get weight up front (FOC).

Anyone tried this?

J

Bored and thinking - two things that I should never be allowed to do at the same time.  :knothead:

I like my brass inserts in my arrows but i always use 5/16 shafts... This year im trying the Axis with carbon core. I'm starting to play with them and most likely going to use a heave broad head to get the weight forward.

Talldrinkofwater,

3rivers sells brass inserts for the Axis shafts, if that helps you out. That is, if you haven't already epoxied the aluminum inserts into place.

i machine old screw-in feild points down to fit the ID of the shaft.

once the target weight is reached i locktite red the old point into the rear of the insert with a normal point in place in the front of the insert as a 'gauge' to prevent not being able to install points, normally, once insert is installed into shaft.

if the insert is not threaded all the way thru, simply purchase the appropiate tap and thread it the rest of the way thru

if you don't have access to a lathe, you may use a drill/drill press and file. it'll take longer, but it can be done.
i was told by a sales person, when purchasing an out-of-date newpaper that it was out-of-date...

i told her "i've been told i'm out-of-date, too"...

does that mean i'm up-to-date?
