Typically, dogs (meaning wolves) kill large game by pulling it down en mass and they start eating it from behind before the thing is dead.  At leat cats tend to kill the thing before they eat it.

I have seen video footage of a deer with its head up watching wolves eat its hind quarter as it lay there dying.  What a way to go.

Predators eat what is easy.  People are VERY easy, even for younger predators.  It will happen, already has with big cats out in California and a few other places.

The only saving graces in history is, as mentioned before, the people that experienced them in "the old days" typically were robust folks that had weapons. Even aat that, how does "history" know who was killed and eaten in the mountains or Canada's expanses when nobody was there to witness it or go looking.

Now the big predators are being seen near cities and we are moving into the country. As more wolves and big cats come on the scene, they will be pushed into new and far reaching areas. A younger Wolf from a NE Wisconsin pack was (car) killed in eastern Indiana a few years ago

Cats and dogs are easier to catch than deer.  Your kids out playing are easier still.

I don't doubt it will happen, a wolf killing a human. It has happened though maybe not recorded, but with ther being no control on them yet then they will be like the lions w/no hunting pressure, they will find some hiker or jogger and run them down. Bound to happen/

If I was out there and lost my dog to wolves or worse yet THOUGHT they were a threat to my family. I will just say I would be standing in front of a judge.
Always be stubborn.

neat pic's & vidio if you follow the link.... certainly have to keep the fear in them anywhere around communities, but I believe the wolves deserve some protection & room to roam wild & do their thing.
Take 2 for safety.

Yup and if wolves can do that to a moose, think about what coyotes are doing to your deer herd!! Shawn

WOlves killed a man in Canada last year.

Yes Robert, I don't miss much. I try to keep a look out for hunting everywhere I can. There is a lot that could be added to this story but that is an issue for the HIP Forum.

Very nice thread on the Isle Royale site about the east pack exterminating the Alpha male from another pack who unfortunately strolled a little too close to the neighboring territory.

The thing is they will lie lie lie that anyone never gets killed.  Saw a special a few years ago about Kodiak island brown bears and this "specialist" was saying there was no evidence that a single human has ever been killed by a brown bear!  ??
