I don't know if it could be implemented on the board, but a handy feature for many sites these days is a post rating system.

A person can click on a thumb up or thumb down, for example, to indicate whether the post was useful or inappropriate. If enough people give the thumbs down, the message gets deleted....or usually it's just no longer displayed by default.

That make community policing pretty easy, and usually works well.

This forum/website has a bad habbit of simply blocking out or shutting down anything that doesn't agree with a couple moderators.

Its really bad when a traditional archery website simply shuts down its entire shooter's forum. Thats not a fault of posters but a testimony to poor moderating.

Just my opinion fellas, I hope I'm still entitled to it. What say you?

Well, as a brand new member of the gang, and still in the first few weeks of being brutally schooled by my first recurve after years of shooting wheelies - I found that forum REALLY valuable.  Great info/ answers/ analysis on all sorts of questions that for dipstick newbies like myself are hard to find anywhere else.  Now where to go to find answers to my 'tard questions?

In fact, although there was certainly dissent and a bit of snottiness in some of the posts, I thought in comparison to the compound-oriented sites I've been frequenting for years that it was remarkably civilized - even when emotions ratcheted up it struck me as a squabble amongst brothers rather than Hatfield vs. McCoy.

Anyway I certainly hope it's reinstated soon.  Otherwise you all will be made to suffer my dingbat inquiries in all the wrong places.

Well,
If you want to discuss shooting and form and such you are all welcome to join us at staf.trinitylongbowmen.com, better known as the Stickbow Target Archery Forum. Rob DiStefano started it years ago, and the attendance was so low that he stopped running it, and gave it to me since I had some spare web space.

The attendance is even lower now, but those who participate are pretty knowledgeable, and there are some great old articles too.

The moderation is light-handed unless you're hocking your viagra.

There are no advertisements, so I don't make any money off the site, but you're welcome to stop by and chat...at least until this board gets it's shooter's forum back up.

16,559 members. Mods must be doing something right. Respect is the key here. Pretty simple really! There are other forums to go to.

The shooting archive is still available with plenty of good info.  I'm sure the administrators and moderators are still very busy with St. Jude's and they will find a solution to get the shooters forum link back some way.  We just need a little patience and maybe check out some the other links on the site we wouldn't normally click.  Just a thought.  I miss it too.

Abel,...your opinion stinks...you aint got a clue about moderating, or running a site this size, or what ELSE we are working on that we don't have time to fool with the shooter's forum at the moment.

Hope I didn't break my own rules...what do you say?

BTW, you haven't posted in the Shooter's forum in over a year, so what do you care?  I'm pretty sure I already have the answer to that.

smiliecon.....ONE PERSON??? Guess you didn't read my 1st post. Clueless, read the 1st paragraph of this post again.

For you guys that can understand "the why" of this happening...it's not over yet...hang in there.....and thank you for the support    :notworthy:

I love Tradgang. I spend ALOT of time here and have met some great people, shared info, even hunted with some of them. I would like my Tradgang experience to broaden on line as well as in the field. Keep up the GREAT work Mods and thanks for the privilege to share and learn in this forum.    :clapper:

TG is the BEST. For those who don't like the way the show is run can always find someplace else to hang out. This is Terrys house and HE makes the RULES! We are guest's here and should act as such. Thanks to all the mods who do a great job. And when they do there jobs get crap from people.<><

Patience. Folks have close to $90,000 dollars of Auction business to take care of, businesses to run, jobs to do and a life off of here that needs tending. Give the guys some time. It will be back better than ever in time.

"Expect to be respected if you decide to join the gang, because the rule of respect is held highest of the few rules that apply. Tradgang.com has a zero tolerance for disrespect directed to anyone. If you want to disagree, then please do so in an adult manner. Debate is healthy, as one sword sharpens another, but it must be done in an honorable fashion"

The rules have been layed out plain and simple.... its all about simple respect...doesnt mean you have to agree... you just have to disagree respectfully..... I don't agree with all of the decisions that the moderators make, i dont agree with all comments that are posted... but i respect others opinions and i'm smart enough to know that the moderators are the ones that are protecting this site and the ones that have to babysit the few fools that want to ruin a good thing....The rules have been layed out and there are very few of them....but respect is a must !! seems fairly simple to me.... just my 2 cents.

BTW...two things I should have posted but was in a hurry as usual.

This is not, and has never been, a 'traditional archery' site.  Nowhere can you find that statement about Trad Gang, we have always been since day one a traditional BOWHUNTING site.

Number 2, if someone needs help learning to shoot, they don't have to have a 'shooters forum' to get help here at Trad Gang.  They can post right here on the PowWow.  We didn't always have a shooters forum ya know, and folks got help back then as well.
