Looking for a back quiver build using hides
«

I just acquired a couple of hides (red fox, coyote)and want to build back quivers out of them. Anyone know of any build alongs using hides? I found a few on here but they weren't back quivers.
If not, then I might have to use my imagination, make one, document it and post a build along.....only if it turned out well.

My favorite quiver is one with a badger hide. Just make a normal leather quiver and glue and sew the hide to the leather for the main body BEFORE you assemble the quiver. Once the hide is attached, just finish making the quiver as you normally would.

I met a guy this past weekend who had a quiver out of coyote and one out of beaver. He did not use leather for the main body on either one. The beaver hide was pretty tough, however.
Experts out there, would you recommend this? Will I run into any problems just using the hide?

The only one's I've seen used a cased skinned hide and they were slipped over a "liner quiver". The liner quiver was made of either a lightweight leather or a heavyweight canvas fabric. Be sure to post pictures when you've completed yours.

Use a split leather for the main tube in 4-5 oz. It will help keep its shape and protect the hide. Plus the splits are cheaper and provide an excellent glue surface.
