It took me awhile, when I first started hunting with a compound, to stop wishing for a rifle after an animal had spooked away. And when I moved to traditional equipment, it took awhile to get rid of the thinking of, "If only I had a whiz-bang compound!" after a failed stalk. Now, with recurve or longbow in hand, I can honestly say that when the animal spooks away, I do not look at it as a failure, and I don't wish for another weapon that would've made it easier to kill it. I suppose my attitude has changed to one of better sportsmanship, where I can whisper to the animal (or mutter), "Well done, Sport, you won that encounter fairly!" Development takes time.
