Also talk to Eldon Jandreau in Portage. 207-435-2231. He is a longbow hunter and guide, Biggie and I have both hunted bear and moose with him. Great guy.

0/18 here.  Good luck!
The season gave him perfect mornings, hunter's moons and fields of freedom found only by walking them with a predator's stride.

What Marty said, Talk to Eldon. I have a moose hunt booked for 2010 w/ him. If you buy any Bill Langer videos, you'll get to see what he is like and what the area's you hunt are like and what kind of game you can expect to see.

Paul WA,
Actually, the state of Maine has no written restriction on minimum draw weight for a bow used to hunt moose. There is a stated minimum of 35 pounds for deer and I'm sure anyone going after Maine moose would want quite a bit more, in addition to a nice heavy arrow and broadhead combo, but there's no actual minimum draw weight stated. Here's a link to the 2008 Maine Moose Hunter's Guide. The section on archery hunting is at the top of page 6.

Good luck to all who have drawn a tag!
