Crossbow, compound, its all about the same anymore. I came from the compound ranks and I don't think there's an enormously unfair advantage to a crossbow. I laugh at some of the compounders I know that shun a crossbow. To me there's barely a difference if put them next to a tradbow. I would be surprised to see a real significant biological impact from allowing the technology, and I certainly don't mind them here in the special regulation areas like Pittsburgh where the skinny malnurished deer are crawling over one another and destroying the native forest.
That being said, one fell swoop change in the law is dangerous without data. Some partial seasons with some analysis would be a more prudent approach before considering going all the way. I do agree we need to keep equipment manufacturers from influencing the laws, but I'm not necessarily in the camp of those who want to look down on the preferences of others. It may even result in a much better kill/wound ratios that put everyone in a better light from the non-hunter's perspective.
