Really Short Draw Length
«
on:

I have a really short draw only 23.5". Yes I am that small physically. I double anchor my middle finger at the corner of my mouth and thumb at jaw line. I also shoot an osage orange backed with sinew that is not center shoot and at my draw length is 32#. My question is this because my bow is "sensitive" to spine should I leave the arrows at 27" or should I have them cut to around 25-26"? I am just worried about being too stiff.

If you cut them they will be stiffer, you would need weaker spined arrows to make them that short. Why would you want them shorter?
Are you really only 4' tall or do you do like me and hunch around and use arm muscles instead of back muscles to hold the draw? I found when I intentionally worked on drawing 27-28" my shooting got much better with time. Of course I am a giant at 5'9"

I prefer longer arrows. I make my own and cut them at 29" for my 26" draw. With store bought arrows their spine is measured at 28". Anything over that you can subtract 5# per inch and add 5# per inch for each inch under 28". For non center shot bows like self bows your spine should be 10# or less than the draw weight of your bow. Longer arrows can accomplish this without getting too weak of an arrow. Pat

Pat-Thanks for the advice. That is what my thoughts were but it is nice to have someone else confirm what I was thinking.
