Bowhiking / Scouting Photo
« on: July 07, 2008, 05:08:00 PM »
I took this photo this weekend while scouting for my muley. Thought it turned out well. Saw lots of does, and a real nice 3point that will probably be a nice 4 by season start. Also got to see the first bear of the season, beautiful reddish brown! Awesome day, perfect weather, and set up my trail cam so in a couple of weeks, I should have a few more pics to post...

Not sure, but there were not too many around, and these happened to be right on the trail I was on, and were the most bloomed (if that makes sense)

That-thars a somewhat rare white Columbine. The blue-and-white columbine, same size, is the CO state flower, while the smaller red-and-yellow version is far more common and grows at lower elevations. Deer love to eat them from our "yard." Great photo, and so refreshing to see folks who see the Big Picture of the full true joy of real hunting ... when a scouting trip (as opposed to setting out bait and calling it scouting) can include such "unrelated" natural beauty as this. Thank you O&U. dave

Thanks for the kind words, and well put on the real meaning of the hunt and scouting.  Not out there just for the kill, out there for the "big picture".  These flowers and other things of beauty is what truly makes archery season and being in the woods all the more enjoyable and worth it!!

Thanks to for clearing up the identity of that beautiful flower.

All the best

Jake

Thanks, it is a shrew samuria.  All thow arrows are tipped with judos, and they seem to stay in better upside down.

Awesome pic!!  I do the same thing with my arrows when shooting judo points.
