Overnight scouting trip
« on: July 08, 2008, 08:25:00 PM »
Did a quick scouting trip to my elk area in the northern Bighorns. Did a little stump shooting;

Saw 8 elk and this deer that is going to be a good one;

Looked over some good country. The flowers this summer are only surpassed by the mosquitos. Streams are way high for this time of year.

Not a bad day in the mountains.

Beautiful pics Pat! Incredible scenery...would you mind telling us where you were at?

If I shot at a stump like that around here I'd never get my arrow out...or at least the pieces left in the stump out.

Nothing better than a day stumping in the mountains, and the flowers are beautiful!  Wish I could do it, but following along in your footsteps was the next best thing!  Thanks for sharing, and make sure to post more pics the next time you go.

This area is west of Sheridan, elevation about 9000'. I haven't hunted this particular area before, so I hope to find a dumb one come September.
Hey Drew, does that bow look familiar? I'm still loving that Northern Mist Baraga.

Like Drew and Joe said, be sure to take us more pics next time...and post them in the max format so we can really see how pretty that place is. Looking forward to seeing your hunt, only elk hunted once but miss the adventure/scenery still.

Pat, yes it does...I'm jealous it's getting carried around in some beautiful country, and it looks like your shooting it well too! Good looking quiver too..

I was playing with another Baraga during the MTB jamboree...might have to have Steve build me one. I love the look of that quilted maple and that bow sure could throw a heavy arrow well!

Can't wait to see it laying next to a big ole bull elk with ya.   :pray:

JC, here are a couple more pics from the same trip. This is a scenic area, indeed.
