My NEW 58" Whisperstik WITH PHOTO"S
« on: July 10, 2008, 09:27:00 PM »
I got the mail yesterday, the best e-mail I've had a long time.

JD told me that my whisperstik was on its way !
        :clapper:                :clapper:                :clapper:

 58" 47# @ 29" Honduras Rosewood,the limbs are Osage ! it's going to Look fabulous.

This is going to be one special bow, for one,  JD made it and he dose fabulous work !, and two, there have been a number of the guys on this site that I have been talking to for years, and some of those guys have shot this very bow.  So when I take it into the woods, I will be taking their memories in their too.  It's already had some first kills from them, and that even makes my first kill with it, even more special.

Can't wait to have fun with this bow.

And of course photos to follow !!!!        :goldtooth:

I'll take photos of it, maybe tomorrow.  I have been busy working on a deck I added on to my house
it is a split-level deck 12 ft. by 19 ft. all that I have left to do, is put the railings on.

But I receive the bow Friday, I went to the post office to mail and other bow out, and when I check my mail, my Mojo stik was there.  It sure is great-looking,JD is really good work.  And the surprise, he put deer antler tips on it.  And for me with a 29" draw it comes out to be
58" 47# @ 29" just perfect.

And that's the reason I asked him if he would sell it to me, all the good reports that were coming back from the guys that shot it.  And even though there was quite a few they shot it, the bow is in immaculate shape.  Not a scratch on it.

But I also have another Mojo's stik I guess that a couple months ago, 60" 43 @ 29"

Photos tomorrow guys

Here's the photos, and there isn't anything I can say that hasn't already been said about JD's quality, artistic design, smooth handling and shooting of his bows.

And this is me, with my other whisperstik 60" 43# @ 29"

I have two of his bows, and without a doubt there the quietest and smoothest shooting bows that I have shot.

I am going to make some custom arrows for this one.  For me at 29" this bow is at 47#, if some of you that have shot your whisperstiks for awhile
you could give me some advice on some arrows.

I know they like a stiffer shaft, and heavier arrow.  I had planned on starting out at about 500 gr to 525 gr.  But I'd appreciate some advice from some of you that are shooting  whisperstiks.

I also thought of taking the plunge, and going with grisly sticks, or carbon express 250's.  But I didn't purchase them, because they were $100 for a dozen bare shaft.

I'd like to get this MOJO stik working just fine for that deer season.

Thanks in advance

Very nice Carl, I shoot Gold Tip 3555's.  Both my Whisperstik's are 54lbs. @ 28".  I'm even shooting 4" fletchings and they shoot like darts even with my magnus 4 blade broadheads. They are cut at 29" and with a 50 grain brass insert and a 125 grain point they weigh 401 grains.

Good luck.

Carl, Ive been shooting 150's w/100 grain brass insert, and 125 gr. tips out of my Mojostik. It's a 58" 55#@28, ~49-50#'s @ my 26" draw.
I really like the way it shoots, and it is the quietest bow I've shot.

JD sure knows what he's doing, he is not just selling bows, I think he enjoys making them as much as his customers enjoy shooting them, and that's a great combination that equals success both on his end and in the woods.

Some may pay more $$$$$, but they won't look any better than that one will.  Prices you isn't everything, and he sure does make a sweet bow.

I sure love the quietness of them, and the smooth draw, can get any better, he really puts himself into the bows.  Character, quality, integrity,

That's a Whisperstik !

I shoot a whisperstick 46# at 28" and it takes a spine of 60-64# with a 150 gr head. I think the aluminum arrow was a 2117. Cut 29 or 30" BOP. I cannot remember which. I use POC shafts. I had another tuned to carbons, but it is a complete pain in the butt. Carbons are tougher to guess what they should take. They spine at the heavier of the range listed, and lenghening them/adding point weight got to be a major time commitment. I just decided to bare shaft aluminum, get the correllating wood shaft for that spine, and pick my arrow head weight first! So I spent a little while testing and building arrows, but a lot of time shooting! That bow shoots incredibly well. Of note: I am right handed and could not get left wing feathers to consistently fly, but RW fly like darts...I think the shelf is cut such that the LW were hitting, whether cock feather in or out... I thought my shooting was going to heck and my release was causing problems, but it turns out to be the feathers...Good luck, but remember with carbons they are very finniky, and even weight tubes can change the spine a touch, even though they are not supposed to.

Thanks Matt,

I'll be testing different ones, but I think eventually I'll have Paul make me some, the whisperstiks like a heavier arrow and a stiffer spline than normal.  And I've had a lot of fellas give me some advice here.  Not just on this thread but thanks to all those that also PM me.  It's great to have the help.

Thanks again

What's this ?!!!   All my right-handed buddies who have shot traditional for years use LEFT wing feathers on their arrows and recommend I shoot the same.   Am I missing something???

I changed to leftwing helical, this year.  And it has improved my groups.  If it is not working for you, maybe there's something ocean need to change.

I've learned that could be a number of things.
