PSR

I have been looking at a 54" or 56" PSR X model and I am really longbow shooter but this bow has always caught my eye. I was wondering if the PSR was a easy to shoot when switching from a longbow? also has anyone tried the short 54" model I have a 27" draw and was thinking it would be nice  have a short bow for use in a ground blind. Also as far as performance(smooth draw,FPS,noise)has does it compare to the Pl X longbow?

I have a 54in PSRX and a solid 26in draw. I switch back and forth from my Shrews to it all the time. No problem. Bow is fast and quite. I also put the Ken Beck style quiver on it. Very happy with the set up.

Well I will be shooting a SuperShrew longbow also so thats good news. What exotic wood did you go with I am trying to narrow down my choice.

And...In a moment of clarity.... I bought!

Like Ron said, you won't have any problems with your draw at 56" and probably won't with a 54". You just have to decide if you like the feel of short bows or not.

I will try to get some pics tommorow. I went with Osage and Brazilian Rosewood. I had the grip copied from my Shrew also. The Osage does not have a bamboo core, but to me was a whole lot smoother on the draw than the other models or X's that had bamboo.

I'm used to shoot 64" longbows. I bought a 58" PSR  V, and I didn't feel any pinch at all. Once I put a GN quiver on it,  it is almost as stable as my longbows. And it draws so smooth, like in a dream.... Why did I sell it?? I guess that dreaded moment of insanity   :confused:

I owned a PSR, and it IS different than a true longbow as far as grip. It is tillered and made to shoot with at relatively high wrist, per the previous owners of BW bows. Kind of an "in the throat" grip if you will.  If you "heel" the grip like a true longbow grip, it will not shoot well for most. I liked mine, but prefer the full grip of a longbow and now shoot mostly those. BTW: JD's whisperstik recurve is about half the price of a psr, and is just as fast as the PSR. Not mocking the PSR! Just a thought though. I also found the whisperstik to be quieter. I miss the beaver grip though.

I like my PSR a lot. It shoots well and i did not have a problem switching from the longbow to it. It is perfect for me because I'm only 5'5".
