Bob Lee claimed performance figures???

Just wondering if anybody has done their own tests with a Bob Lee three piece longbow.  

I noticed on their website that it gives the figures of 190.4 fps for the longbow - that's 60# 540 gr (9gr/#).

My Bob Lee Elite seems quite fast but I have no way of verifying those figures.  They seem very fast for a bow that only has maple limbs (no bamboo or carbon) and those figures are for a dacron string.  

Would like to hear from somebody who has done their own tests??  Would be very interesting.

Finally - there is a guy called Blackie somebody - I think he is German.  Apparantly he has tested a lot of popular bows.  Does anybody know if he tested the Lee??

suttoman,   Blacky writes for Traditional Bowhunter Mag. He posts every issue[I think] with a bow report from soup to nuts including Chrono results. I'll see if I or maybe someone can dig up some of his old FPS accouints of the bows he tested.Next Oct/Nov issue he'll be doing his report on The Lewis Hollow 3 piece takedown with recurve and longbow limbs.. The results should surprise alot of folks. As far as plain jane maple limb cores , there are alot of bowyers that swear by good old maple cores and use that wood as a standard item. Horne's and  Bob Lee just to name two.

Not that it matters in the big scheme of things -my Lee actually is quite fast and is very smooth.  I think - as I read on another thread - OL sais that it is mostly in the limb design, and only a little bit to do with the material.  He should know.

I believe the results are for a 30" draw and the string is not a B-50, it is a 75 or something in the combo area.  From my shooting of his longbows I would say the figures are close.

He reviewed a one piece Lee recurve.  Should give you something to consider.

I watched a fella shoot one of the new 56" Bob Lee recurves at ATAR this weekend.  It seem pretty darn fast.

Suttoman...in over 40 years I never had to "verify" any of my bows performance with a number 8^).  I knew what they were doing in my own mind and that was good enough.  There isn't five FPS different in like designs nowadays....heck, probably in old designs as well.  If a bow shoots fast (in my minds eye) and it shoots accurately and comfortably, that's good enough verification for me.

You are correct George and thanks fo the comments.  I like to tinker a lot with things and being a techno-head I like to know all the information available behind a product.  It certainly does not affect my enjoyment of a bow -just because it may be slower than another.

I just shot the Lee today and by fiddling with the brace-height and putting on a different string I have it smoking.  Am really happy with the Lee.
