Help with prices for trad bows?
« on: July 20, 2008, 09:04:00 PM »
(I hope this is in the right forum... I saw that the classifieds were not for Q&A)

Hi all,

I'm selling a couple of bows in hopes of financing enough teacher time to learn how to make my own. Because neither of them are available in stores and I don't have much trad archery experience I am having a real problem finding information. Would any of you be willing to suggest a rough idea of what I should be selling these for?

One is a Herter's International Match Hunter 63-1/2", 58" string. Right handed. Limbs/tips and riser are all in good shape, no warping, twisting or obvious wear. Don't know how to tell if it is CV17 or CV22. Hand written on the side it says "K. 100473030". Also has the "#" sign with no number, then below it '29 @ 28"'...all the Herter's Match Hunters I saw on the internet were around 45# draw, so I am not sure what the 29 is supposed to be? String is in good shape but old and dry, not sure if it could be used after a good waxing or if it needs a new string.

The other is an old Bear "Black Fox" 54" fiberglass bow. It's 40-45# @ 29" draw. It has a small rubber hand grip that apparently also functions as an arrow rest. No twisting or warping of the limbs. Does have some definite scuff marks at the tips and the hand grip has obviously been well used. I am not sure if this is properly called a recurve or a tiny longbow because it doesn't have the same amount of curve as the one above, but it's awfully short for a longbow as I understand it. Has a new string on it.

Thank you very much for being willing to help!

Lisa
