Freeze Drying

Any one here ever experiment with it?  I'm a bit tired and not wealthy enough to pay  $6 for mountain house macaroni and cheese.  Any suggestions?

I'm thinking boxed mac-n-cheese w/dried milk and water?  Problem is I was "thinking".  Never tried it but sounds like it might work and 1/2 the work.

Well I'm aware of all the other options there are out there but I was hoping to see if someone had made any "gourmet" meals with freeze drying Like you would see on the shelves at REI, Maybe Bigger portions, or better tasting..
