Ladies and Gents: For years I have been trading primaries and/or finished fletching for unwanted secondaries and tail feathers. I prefer the secondaries and tail feathers to have their quills intact.I trade 1 pound of #1 quality primaries for 2 pounds of secondary wing feathers with quills intact or pound for pound on tail feathers. If you don't mind using #2 primaries the amount you get for your secondaries and tails doubles. Now keep in mind the worth of these feathers decrease in half if you shear them from the wing or tail. I have developed a tutorial on this subject as I actually most prefer that the wings and tails be kept whole and separate the feathers from the wing or tail clump on my end. Using borax is the key to this. It keeps the bugs away and slows down or stops the decomposition of the wings and tails depending on how much of the flesh is removed. You can view this tutorial at
