Trouble sharpening Zwickey No Mercey....
« on: July 25, 2008, 05:22:00 PM »
I looked up the tutorial and did everything step by step for my new Single Bevel Zwickey No Mercey broadheads.

I though can't seem to get a decent edge on them.  I grinded em to 25deg and worked all the stones with the same sharpening system.

Anyone have any tips for me?  I can def feel a change in the edge from what I have done vs out of the package but its still not as sharp as I'd like it and by no means hair shaving sharp.  Its just skin irritating sharp LOL.

I worked and worked the heads but still nothing to brag about.  How come you guys that make tutorials make things look so easy...maybe next time put a total time taken to do it LOL.

Any help would be appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks in advance,
Deadbolt (tom)

Try a single cut file. You will notice a big difference in sharpness.I had the same trouble with my ACE BH.What I did was,I started with 25
strokes then check sharpness.Long story short
is it took me 75 strokes to just get right! Then
I used my Leatherman Wave which has a diamond
hone for the final few storkes (ten strokes)
NOW ITS HAIR POPPEN SHARP!I hope I was helpful
Scott.

Tom, if you're coming to Pequest tomorrow I can bring my KME broadhead sharpener and diamond stone if you want to check it out.

Man I have seen Ron several times but next time I see him I'm def gonna shake his hand!

I spent a few hours playign with different systems last night and I couldn't get a decent edge on these heads.

I even started to doubt myself so i took out my hunting knife which is super dull after a season of stumping and in a few minutes had it shaving sharp.

Tried the KME just now and in 10 minutes I had a fresh broadhead with one hell of an edge on it!  I can't believe it LOL.

Buuuuut its not hair shaving sharp...I need to talk to ron and see if I need other stones or if I just need to keep working the one I have now.  I only have the basic setup.

But again my hats off to KME this thing is friggin awsome!
