A mid 1950's American Archery Cheetah, 64", 47# @ 28" draw.  Walnut riser (I think) maple limbs, green glass, black glass and maple overlay.  Sweet..sweet shooter.

Very nice!!!
To me, the ultimate challenge in bowhunting is not how far away you can succesfully make a killing shot but rather how close you can get to the animal before shooting.

Nice one there George,my buddy still hunts with his 64" 55# Cheetah about the same year as the one you have in the pics...Todd's Cheetah shoots around 185 fps.with a hunting weight arrow.Purty impressive for a bow 50 years old.Great shooters.......bowdoc

I just started to shoot again after a few years absense. This was a very interesting post to me because one of the two bows I have started back with is a Cheetah 64" 60# recurve; the other is a custom 66" 60# longbow made by a well known bowyer. It pains me to say this but I shoot the cheetah noticably better. The longbow cost me about 5x's what the used recurve cost. Speed is about the same.

If I buy another bow it will be a shorter model in the 50# range, but so far, I don't see any need to.

Thanks for all the posts, I find most of them interesting and helpful.
