What about a Red Wing??
« on: July 30, 2008, 08:31:00 PM »
First i would like to say that this site is GREAT!!! It has been very helpful for research. My thanks to the mods!!
Im seriously thinking about ditching my Compound bow for a recurve.
I found a petty nice Red Wing recurve thats 53#and in good shape for $155.Is this a good bow and price?

If It's an AMF, Head Ski bow, 155 bucks isn't a steal... If it's a Wing, that's a good deal...either way, I think you'll be happy with it. They are good shooters.

You didn't mention what type of wing. There were several makes. If it's a Hunter and in good shape I would call that sorta high but fair. The red wing hunters I've owned and/or shot were really nice bows. I prefer them over most of the Bears I've shot.

The older Wings are more desirable to collectors, but don't let that fool you there all nice shooters. Any bow that Bob Lee had a hand in is a decent bow, and if that Wing is a good solid bow that is not to bad a price compared to a new bow, any how if your talking $20 in price for it to be labeled as a great deal, that is not much cash these days.

I have a Red Wing Hunter, and I really enjoyed hunting and shooting with it the past couple of years. I got mine for $90 on that auction site.

Ditto the above comments.  A great bow and if the bow is in good condition the price is close enough.

The Red Wing was made in 58" and 52"...both good shooters but since you are new to trad bows I would opt for the 58" model if I were you.  Just a little easier to handle a longer bow IMO.

I've had a couple of the old ones and now have one the more recently built Red Wings.  All really good shooters.

Hey Stone it does say Head Ski on it .
From the link that you posted it looks like it was made between 68-69.
I think thats after Bob Lee sold the company was it not?
Are the Head Ski Red Wings as goods as the Bob Lee Red Wings ?
