YES! I do have a recommendation....

I use an Outdoorsman tripod system with the above panning pistol grip attachment with my 25 by 80 Steiner Astronomical binocs.  Best complete system I've personally seen.  Outdoorsman products are very well made!

For a lightweight option try the Gorilla-pod.  I haven't used it myself, but I have seen many positive reviews.

I agree with Mike Orton on the Outdoorsman's system. I have about every option they make and all of them are wonderful -- but ooouuuccchhh on the prices! Get ready to spend some bucks if you want the very best -- and that system is absolutely the best you can buy in a lightweight configuration.

kahunter, I don't want to sound disagreeable but...I have two gorilla pods, one big one small.  They have their place but I find that they are not very durable and the joints weaken up pretty fast.  :knothead:

Gorilla pods are great for a lightweight wrap around a limb to hold your tiny digital camera for a self portrait trophy photo.  They are not even in the same league as the Outdoorsman products.

Amar, you're spot on re: the price thing.  Fortunately I bought from Eb@y for a fraction of that which was new.

Mike, good to hear the comparison.  I don't use big bino's so the gorilla may still work for what I need.  I'll have to remember the Outdoorsman's system for bigger applications though.  :)
