Question for you Chek Mate owners

I had a  Hunter 1 and sold it a few years ago when I changed from left hand to right. Been through alot of bows before and since.
The one thing I really liked about the bow was it had a larger grip then most of the other bows I've had.
Do you guys that have them notice the grip is larger?, Mine was an older bow and wondered if the designed has changed any over the years, would like to find a short hunter 2 or a Firebird. Thanks, Craig

They still have a larger grip. I have only owned one but from what everyone else states, they have a large grip.

The grip is larger than other bows I've shot but I like it. For some reason, it makes me concentrate on the target more.

The larger grip is standard, especially on the take-down recurves.  The Atilla has a smaller grip, as do the flatbows and longbows, but the rest run bigger than most.  Not quite as big as a Fedora, but can be made larger if needed.

The reason is two-fold.  One, it's harder to torque a larger grip;  and in today's sue-happy society CM rather be safe than sorry.

I just won a brand new one at JLMBH. 60" Special Falcon 50#@28. I noticed the grip right away and was a bit ...skeptical. Once I started shooting it though I noticed it basically forces you to hold a proper grip. My grip(on my bow) is almost angled to deter wrapping your mitts around the whole thing. One less thing to think about at crunch time. Very quiet and throws an arrowlike it means it too. My buddy and I hunted the other day ...he has a Morrison Arapaho....comparing the two grips, the Chek Mate looks blocky while his looks sleek. I gotta say that I love the way that Chekmate just seems to fit...no thought required.

It seems to just become a part of me when I shoot it. Heck of a bow, Im very happy to own it. Thats funny...I was going to email ya tonight too to say Thanks....LOL. Well, thanks. I assure you, it will be used amd hunted with for many mnay years. Great bow!

I ordered a King's Pawn with the low-wrist grip. I'm hoping I can switch from a lifetime of longbows back and forth with it for target work. In the old days, there were a lot of long recurves, and people shot them well. The King's will be 64".
I'll get one of Chad's excellent 450+ strings with it, and it should be a shooter!

Glad to hear the grips are still the same, of all the bows I've had I really like the CM best.

It's a sad world we live in ,,unfortunatley Australia is also becoming a "sue everybody" society    :mad:

I didn't think that I would like the large grip, but I think it's the reason that I shoot my "Hunter I" aswell as I do. I like it.

My Chek-Mate Raven definitely has a fat grip.  That's the only thing I dislike about it, since I have smaller than average hands.  Other than that it's a great bow: good performance for the price, and attractive without being "pimped out" like some of the bows I've seen.  It just doesn't fit right for me.  I learned the hard way that you should always shoot a bow before you buy it.  Oh well, maybe I can sell it to my brother!  (He has big hands.)

What nchunter said. I have a Hunter II and the larger than average grip is the only thing I don't like about it.

The grips suite me well. I have a friend that likes smaller throats and he's rasped a couple Falcons down without any troubles.

Of course this might maybe void your warranty

Everyone likes something different. My wife has fairly small hands and loves her Hunter II.
My hands aren't large but the standard Hunter II grip works great for me.Just seems to come back to the same place every time.
Like I said , everyone likes something different.
