A little history first
I found Tradgang a few years ago looking for a little info to make my recurve and myself a better shooter. It was a bow I had bought new almost 20 years ago and enjoyed shooting out in the yard. I did not start bowhunting until I was around 20 years of age, although I was a very hard gun hunter since the age of 12 I am 51 now. Not sure why it took so long to get started bowhunting, but I sure did get obsessive with it once I started. Although I was shooting those wheeled contraptions. My recurve only got attention in the yard, and a little bowfishing. Even though I really enjoyed shooting it much more, my confindence and dedication to it was not enough to lay a side the wheels.
Then about 5 years ago my bowhunting seemed so empty and was not the challenge that it was when I started. So I picked up my old recurve and started shooting, and those old feelings crept right back into my sole. What a great feeling it is for me at least, to shoot this simple bow and the challenge it put back into my hunt. I was not very confident in myself that first year, but overcame that haunting feeling after my first season. I was not successful the first year, but it would have been tough to wipe the smile off my face. What a great season it was! Even though I missed a nice low 140 class droptined buck, smacked that lower bow limb on my treestand. Have no idea where that arrow went after it clipped a branch between me and him. Except that it never even came close to him! He busted out of there to about 35 yards stopped quartered away. Looking back and wondering what was that! Lucky year for him he was 10 yards outta my range for me, with that recurve. After it all happened it came to me I just missed a really nice buck, so why was I almost laughing and why did I have this hugh smile on my face?
Happiness begins with a stick and string:
In my quest for becoming a better shooter and improving my shooting set up. Tradgang appears on one of my online searches. WOW the mother load of traditional archer information. My bow setup and arrow combinations and flight improved 10 fold from all the info.
The origins of information:
Came forth in waves from Tradgang all I had to do was ask a question. Seems I always get a couple different views on the how to. But that made it so easy to find what worked best for me. A more giving group of people I don’t believe could be found anywhere.
Friends:
The most cherished thing I have got from Tradgang is friends everywhere. And have had the privilege to hunt with some of them. When I made my move to Arizona couple months ago. I was so lucky to have shooting buddy’s waiting for me to get there. If you’re a tradganger, there are welcome mats waiting everywhere for you.
Thanks:
I’m a better person knowing you all.
