made a goal for this year

even though I have not shot my first deer yet, I have decided to take my first deer with a trad bow, from the ground or treestand, along with small game too(except for dove), so deer, hogs, rabbits and squirrels this year, all with a bow, I think its an easy decision sine my longest possible shot in some spots is 30 yards(I limit my self to 15 or less), so has anyone else made this decision for this year?

You set some good goals. I hope that you make all of them or at least havw fun trying.

My goal this season is to have as much fun as I did last year hunting.

I think you will find a good number of people that are hunting with only stick and string.  I do not believe I will be using a firearm this year.

I might use one if I hunt squirrels with my little girl.  She talks a lot and I will definitely have to shoot long range because any squirrels within 50 yds will be hiding!

yup. same here. First year big game at all and using a longbow.

Oh, btw. I found an old WMA's book Louisiana had published. They said only rabbits in manchac wma. But in joyce they said its got many deer. They didn't mention hogs, but they NEVER mention hogs even in pearl river. So they just left it out the book. I'm betting its full of hogs. The place is big too.

Ian  I have no problem with using a gun.  but really, for numerous years, I really haven't (used a gun) for anything.  I just enjoy my bow and watching the arrows.  Don't really care if I miss, but you know....often enough I don't miss.

My goal for this year is to try and get a buck with my recurve. I've gotten two squrriels so far and thats really boosted me!

totally went stick and string couple years back, sold all my guns, i can now hunt with bow mid sept. thru mid dec,have to share the woods with gun toters, and follow gun rules when hunting in those seasons, but i don't regret one second of it!! i have way more fun now,and find hunting more relaxing!! good luck with your goal and have fun doing it!!!
