Pronghorn Shooters, quick question...

Got a new Pronghorn about 2 weeks ago, and am loving every minute I get to have her out! 3pc grey on grey dymondwood riser and grey limbs.  58#@28 and 60".

But I have a question about how to grip correctly?

My last longbow had a pretty straight grip on it, with a very slight dish.  It liked lots of heel in the grip and very little web.

I've been toying around with this guy and it seems like it prefers more of a suitcase grip with the pressure more behind the thumb joint and not so much heel...

So, Pronghorn shooters...what's your experience with the best grip on Herb's 3pc?

I have a couple of herbs bows one three peice long bow and a ferret recurve. I have found that for both of them I have to use the suitcase style grip. I try to put most of the pressure on the web of my hand. I also shoot holding my bow. I have never been able to shoot with a  loose grip.

When I switched in '88 to trad bows, I had real problems using the heel on my grip.  I just could never get comfortable with the grip, nor consistent.  

Eventually I found that by tucking my pinky/ring fingers in or under my hand and gripping with only my thumb and middle/pointer fingers, I could sorta replicate the high wrist position I used when I shot compound.  This would probably be close to where the pressure point is in your grip.

I shoot a 3-pc. Pronghorn that way and love the way it shoots.  It's slightly unusual but works for me.  I'm so used to it that I pick up and carry the bow that way all the time just by force of habit.

I use the web between the thumb and fore finger also.  Great bows.

Easy bow to shoot. I always made sure to have slight heeling pressure. Only problem ever had with this grip is getting my hand up to high on grip sometimes causing fletching to hit enough to cause errent flight. Good bows and good luck!
