Dreamcatcher New vs. Old
« on: September 10, 2008, 10:12:00 PM »
Well after trying for a few weeks, I have someone that is going to trade me a 50# Dreamcatcher for my 60# dreamcatcher.

However, when I spoke with the gentleman, he mentioned that if mine was made within the first few years that they came out, that the brace height on mine would be larger.  Turns out he's right, on mine the brace height was like 8 1/2 to 9 1/2 and the newer ones are something like 7 1/4 to 8".

Has anyone shot both?  How do they differ?  Which do you prefer?  Why?  Any other differences besides the brace height?

Any help is appreciated.

I may be wrong but I thought that I heard that the new DC's are faster and can take fast flight? I have one of the old ones and love it though partly because it was my first tradbow. I am confident that if you give Martin a call they will tell you. I hope this helps. Martin Phone: 509.529.2554

Thanks, I was hoping to get some first hand, "unbiased" info.  It appears the brace height is an inch or more less on the new ones, which would explain the additional speed.

I sure hope the old ones took fast flight, because I used one for all the years I had it.

BTW, thanks for the Martin number, i'll try them and see what they have to say.

MD:
Call Martin and ask for Larry Hatfield, he's the head bowyer and the designer of the Dreamcatcher. Believe me he will not B.S. you. A great, straight shooting guy that I've known for years. If you can't get him on the phone ask them for his email address, I'm sure they will give it to you.
