Looking for a SCRAP of Copperhead Skin...
« on: September 12, 2008, 12:44:00 PM »
Hey, Gang,

I wondered if there might be anyone out there who has used a copperhead skin on a bow and has a piece left over.  I'm not looking for a whole skin, but a piece that is about 3"x6" to use an decoration on a quiver.

Any chance someone has a piece to barter of sell?

I'd appreciate any help or ideas!

Yeah, Ted, I'd love to find a couple scraps THAT size, too!!!!  But, poor people have poor ways, and I'm trying to do the head of a bowquiver since I can't afford to do the limbs...

bondo, maybe your PM was for Ted, but if it was for me, I don't see it yet.

Windtalker, I bet your skins would be pretty, but I don't think they'd be quite large enough, and I'm hoping for that copperhead "look."  Thanks for your offer, though!

pintail, that's a little BEAUTY!  As far as I know, they don't make it up to my part of the state (Peoria).  Guess it's too cold up here over Winter.

Thanks, all!

Thanks everyone for your time and your help.  I heard from two Gang members who may be able to share a chunk of 'head skin. It looks like I may get to give the project a try!  If it works out, it will be fun to carry a bit of the commaraderie from this site along to the deer woods of Illinois.  If it comes out "purty," I'll post a photo to show how it worked.

Thanks,

Daryl

I hate snakes myself, but some are pretty to look at. we have be getting alot more cottonmouths and rattlers here lately-verses the copperheads we ususally find. sure wish the darn things would leave me alone...seems like they "seek" me out!

Thanks Nighthawk.  You too, ductape.

I have a piece coming by mail from a brand-new friend(!!!!), so I won't deprive you of your treasure.  Hope you can make some nice from it.  Thank you, though, for the kind offer.  I really appreciate the generous hearts that have shown up.  Gotta love the folks of traditional archery!!
