Would this work? Slick Trick Broadhead

Just wondering about a broadhead like the slick Trick.. Would it be a good choice if it fly's well/ tuned well etc... ?   I'm shooting ACS CX  55 lbs. @  29.5' and total arrow weight is around 550 gr... Thanks.. Steve

I think the cut on contact ones look pretty good.  I'm sure they would work fine on deer.

You will have to excuses ignorance on my part, but what is cut on contact mean? Is it a broadhead that isn't an expandable?  

I just didnt' know if the short profile of one of these blades would work/ I guess on whitetail it probably would do the job though huh?   Thanks

Hey there Steve!

I love the SlickTrick broadheads, I use them all the time with the wheelies, so I thought I'd try them out with my recurve - they flew great with those also!  Right on with the field points.

A COC (cut on contact) head is a head that has a blade that extends to the very tip of the head.  Technically the ST is not a COC head, as the blades interlock inside a steel ferrel.  I haven't had any penetration issues, but they do require more pressure to penetrate vs a blade point.

Good news is that SlickTrick did introduce a COC head this year, I believe it's called the Razor trick, which has a 1, 1/8"th main and a 3/4" bleeder.  I've shot both it and the new 1 1/4" Grizz Trick that's a little larger than the standard ST Mag.  All flew great for me, even in a marginally tuned bow/arrow combination.

I can vouch for the holes.  I had no problems tracking with mine. They are proven for me.

I took an elk with one but it was out of my wheelie bow. If I did use them out of a trad bow I think I would use the standard model that has a 1" cut. With four blades that is plenty. They are good heads and fly great but I see no reason to shoot them out of a trad bow.

I'm sure they would work out of your setup, but so would a .22.  The blade angle is severe, so you would be sacrificing penetration.  A more traditional COC head would give more consistent results.

I have some of the razor tricks coming to try out.I am going to see how they work on piggies in a couple weeks.Sharp stainless blades on a short all steel ferrel should made it a tough little broadhead.Yes they have a steeper blade angle that a lot of other coc heads but with thin stainless blades that are sharper than most can get heads I expect they will work just fine on deer and hogs.jmo

A buddy of mine shot a monster 10 point 2 days ago, 200# field dressed, with a slick trick. Went about 70 yds and piled up. He is a fanatic about arrow flight, so they should work ok for you.

The slick Tricks fly really well for me. Can't see why they would not work for you.
