Magus 1 150 gr 4 blade help
« on: September 27, 2008, 04:16:00 PM »
So I bought a pack of magnus 4 blades.  I wanted to glue them on my wood arrows but the bleeder blade insert is obviously not allowing me to do so.  How do you guys get these 4 blades mounted on wood arrows or did I buy the wrong heads?  I can trim the taper off but that does not really allow much arrow taper to mount the head on IMHO.  What am I missing here?  Do i split the taper on a band saw and slide around it?

Same issue with Bear Razorheads. You just shorten the taper so it stops just behind the insert.

You can also leave a long taper for strength. Mount the head and mark the slot with a sharpie. Remove the  head and cut the slot then remount. Or you can leave the head on and use a modified coping saw blade to make the slot.

Bear Archery sold thousands of cedar arrows with that short taper on them....similar to a regular aluminum BH adaptor.  It will work fine.

I've been using the Magnus I w/bleeder since their beginning and use Canyon's method. Works fine and is nice and solid.

Gentlemen,  I really appreciate your comments.  I really like these heads with the bleeders.  George, with the short taper, is it necessary to fill the front cavity with anything since the wood is removed?  I am using 2 ton epoxy for the heads.

Eric, you don't need to worry about filling in the cavity in front of the taper.  They will be fine without.  Joseph
