G5 Skote Broadhead?
« on: February 28, 2007, 07:58:00 PM »
Have any of you ever try the Skote broadhead from G-5. They looked like a great broadhead. They came out about 2 years ago but they are no longer on the G5 website. The Skote was 150grains cut on contact head. They were a awsome looking Trad Broadhead. I can't find them anywhere. I sent a email to G5 but didnot get a reply yet. I would like to get my hands on some of them!!

Haven't tried it. But noticed Dr. Ashby had things to say about it in one of his more recent broadhead tests posted on this site. They don't fare well when bounced off a buff. skull. Guess as long as you don't do that...  ;)
The older I get, the better I was.

How many broadheads do work well off a Buff Skull? G5 got back to me and said they don't make or sell them no more  :(  G5 said they didnot sell enough of them to warrant any more production  :banghead:  Oh well I will look for a new broadhead for my Great Plains Recurve 55@28!
Thanks

I'm not sure what broadhead model this was by I use the G-5's and they spin perfect and are razor sharp, I just touch them with a ceramic rod and they are scary sharp!  hit one deer so far but that deer spun on me and I caught the liver so no  bone hits yet.

I agree they looked GREAT! I can't find them anywhere either. Maybe they don't make them anymore.

You are correct snag, they do not make them anymore.  Haven't for awhile.  I bought a set of the 150 gr. and never used them.  In a nice wooden box.  Just gonna keep them cuz they're so purty and unused.

If you look at the G5 website I also no longer see the B-52 two-blade head, which I liked.

If you really really want some, do a Google search on them. I just did so I could see what they looked like, and the first site came up with the ability to order. I am sure if you search hard enough, there will be some stores that still have old stock of them available.

The B-52s were the ones I was thinking of Mac. They are the two blades aren't they? They looked like one heck of a bh.

they still make the b-52. It is their original head. I have shot them with good success. Blood trails arent too impressive without a complete pass through, but i have yet to tear one up. Hard to beat one solid piece of stainless

HJ:

The Shkote broadheads were advertised, at least at first as THE dangerous or BIG game broadhead. From what I understand some people tried and were less than impressed.  Old standards seemed to be the ones preferred.

Having said that, the major problem that most people had with them, was that they appeared in pics to be a two bladed version of the three bladed Montec. You used to be able to get the Montec in up to 145 grains. One problem some have had was the angle of the blades is pretty steep, much greater than the "ideal" of 3:1. I haven't had a problem, but then again i'm not hunting anything bigger than whitetail and the 145 Montecs fly pretty well.

Where to find either the Shkote, the B-52 and/or the heavier 145 gr. Montec - best place I've seen is E-Bay, where I've seen all three sold recently, for very modest prices.  Try there.

Well I hope they still make the B-52 since I like that head.  Yes snag it's a 2-blade head.

Though...that broadhead was always on their site and  if it is still available why isn't it listed on their site anymore??

I have not used them by my son-inlaw does and the only draw back I heard is they are hard to get razor sharp.
