Three days ago, while hunting deer/antelope, I got into about 30 turkeys, and had several within 10 yards, but of course, no license  !!. When I went back to town, I got a license, expecting that the turkeys would not be back, but hoping for the best. The next day, I returned and of course, no birds. Yesterday, I watched what I presume had to be the same flock, on posted land about a mile from where I originally spotted them, so there was no chance of a stalk.
So, this morning I returned, and danged if they weren't back on the land I could hunt. I made a stalk across a bunch of sagebrush country; luckily there were quite a few little draws where I could be concealed.
When I finally ran out of cover, about 5 birds were within 20 to 30 yards. I picked the closest one, picked a spot, and watched the arrow nail the bird, who only lived about 10 seconds after being hit. Hoo Ha! This was my first turkey with a bow, and of course the longbow made it even better. What a great morning!
