Adding arrow wt. front and back
« on: October 08, 2008, 07:19:00 PM »
Y'know, even though I have gotten complete pass-throughs on bear, hogs and deer, I think I am being "seduced" by this heavy arrow thing. My current set-up shoots a 545gr. GT from my 62# bow. If I added 30gr to the weight both front and back would the spine stay about the same/fly as great as it does now? I hate playing with different combinations myself especially during hunting season so I am hoping someone has tried this.

Much thanks!

I did it with carbon express 150 and had to add more to front (inscert) than the back. it is just what worked for me.

I want to say its like 3 times more front weight then rear weight.  I think I heard this from Mr. Beck in the Black Widow viedo.

I would think you'd need to add more to front than the back.  As to what ratio I don't have a clue, but I wouldn't think 50/50 is what you're looking for.  Never tried it though.

Do you have any extra length on your arrows?  I'd try to shave a 1/2" off the front and see if you can get away with all 60gr up front...or if you can get your arrow to lay just a little closer to "center" with a thinner plate/pad.
