Different methods for painting and cresting

I bought some paint markers last week and finaly got a chance to try them out, they worked pretty well. I capped with spray lacquer, then crested with the paint markers. I like the looks of the two old shafts I did,(experimented with).
I'll let them set up a couple of days then I'll shoot them and see how the paint wears.
 Anyone else doing this, if so, are you satisfied with the results ?

I use spray paint for my caps and sharpie for my lines, it's real plain, but works well.  So far I have not had an issue with feathers coming off, paint peeling, etc.  Actually, the sharpie lines are the least durable part of the setup.  Oh yeah, I use deft befoe and after the "cap."

I brush paint 6 inches of masked off shaft,then use paint makers for the cresting.
Looks as good as anything else I've seen.

I spray or paint on the crown using what ever paint is handy. Lately it has been an old gallon of white trim paint.  Then I add a coat of poly and the crest.  Over that I put a coat of water based poly so the cresting doesn't fade or smear.  I tried the spray water based poly with mixed results so I prefer the wipe on.  Then another two or three coats of poly and call them good.
