opening morning NY southern tier
« on: October 18, 2008, 05:13:00 AM »
well the new bow string has been shot in, the BH are sharp, the hunting togs all washed and dried outside, the togs packs in totes with pine for opening day. I also added some corn stalks to my natural blinds near a grass pasture and were my son in law also had 20 A's in corn that he fished cutting on 10/16/08. NOw it up to the deer to shopw up I hope.  Best to all NY's that are going out this morning and have a safe hunting time. to the rest of the gang that already is hunting have a safe season and hope all get the shot of there dreams.

My son and I just got in from this morning's hunt. It's his first season and we had a spike come in to about 25 yards but it was too far for Dylan. He was totally excited to see a buck though and he can't wait until this afternoon to go again. He has given himself a range of out to 12 yards. I sat with him this morning in a ground blind we made together back in August.

Not much seen this am, a real nice buck stepped in front of my car on the way to my spot.He was a real nice deer around 110- 120 class above average for around here. Never saw him in the woods but I'd like to!!!!! Try again sunday, may luck will be with me.

I saw the same 4 does two times in the morning, feeding on our cut corn field. nothing in the pm.
was a nice sunny p.m.,had a hard time not taking a nap out there. came in to see the end of Penn state win...and of course see the rays lose again.
up and ready again will see what today calls for it is very cold 29, hard frost again and a light wind 5 miles per hour.

Passed a three point. Beautiiful day. I must not be used to the temp yet. It was 48 out and yet that breeze was a real chiller! It was the coldest 48 i can remember. I must be getting soft.
