weighting carbon arrows ?
« on: October 20, 2008, 10:38:00 PM »
I have a dz carbons I picked up for next to nothing. They are spined about .500. Shoot good out of my bow, 56 lbs @27". they are 28" long.

I cut 4 pcs of weed eater line, adding about 170 grains over all for a total with 125 grain pt of 540.

Have'nt shot them over 15 yards cause its dark out. They seem to fly pretty good at that short range.

Will this stiffen the shaft or weaken the shaft?

Anybody got any experience doin this? I got the idea here, just was wondering if there were any predictable results I should expect.

I can hear them buzz a little, gonna try some packing tape and see if that helps.
Pick a spot.>>>>-------> Shoot straight.

From my experience weaken a little. But never enough to bother me so far.

I'm on my first dozen carbons and weight tubes made the spine way to heavy.  I had to take them out but I think weighting the shafts up front should work.  Good luck.
