Guru & Cade
« on: October 21, 2008, 11:05:00 PM »
Guru,
Just reading one of your posts and thinking about You and Cade. I was reading your quote at the bottom from Cade where he said, " Dad this is the best day of my life ". Made me think of my own son, Mason. Whenever we are going on a camping trip, fishin trip, or huntin trip we will play George Strait's song, " The Best Day of My Life ". You need to buy that CD and play it for you and Cade, he will never forget it ! Listen to the words of this song, it is priceless. I am sure if the Good Lord lets me live long enough we will play it at Mason's wedding since that is the last verse in the song. Treasure the days with Cade, they go fast ! Mason is almost 13 now and there are days I wish I could go back to when he was Cade's age !   :wavey:

Thank you my friend(with a huge lump in my throat)    :notworthy:

There are days that I can't wait for him to get older so we can do more together and he can hunt himself.....but then I think about how much I already miss when he was small enough to carry around on my forearm and hand.

Not sure how I missed this...but thank you Charlie for bringing it back up for me...

Curt, In the past I THOUGHT the Quote " They grow up so fast" was way over used, but now that Skyler is as tall as I am and I'm wearing his clothes, I really realize how true that is. Just this past week, while scouting, I pointed out several trees where I bow killed deer while Sky was tied in the tree with me. When you spend as much time with your kids as you and Cade, Jimmy and Mason, JC and the boys, Skyler and I, teaching them what we love to do, just can't get any better than that.....It truely is "the best days of our lives".....Don

Wow!  This one really has hit home here with me!I sure don't want to take away from this post to Curt and Cade.  I, too, have often read those words from Curt's quote.  It makes me remember the days when my son was that age, and that I wished I had spent more time with him.  So stay as close as you can to them while they are young, and continue to hold on to them as they grow.  I just received the best gift that I could from my son (now 39 years young) -- the gift wasn't the bow he bought for me, but the words on the bow.

Larry, every time I take Mason hunting I ask him if he will take the old man one day when I am old and broken down... haha ! Looks as if Chris remembered some good times and some bows you bought for him when he was young. That is what you call, " Coming Full Circle ".
