What string do you use?
« on: March 02, 2007, 09:29:00 PM »
I have a fedora ordered and Mike Fedora said it comes with an endless loop. I am still new to traditional archery but my impression was that flemish strings were better? So I am confused. I'm not sure if Mike just prefers the endless loop or what?

Thanks

I think that is just his preference.  But If you bought the bow from him ask him why any good bowyer will give you a reason why they use a certain string. (personally I would use a flemish string preferably fast flight if compatible with it)

Mike is a fan of endless loop strings and claims they are superior to flemish twist he has good reason to know. I run a flemish Dynaflight on my 560 and Dacron flemish on my Extreme. To me, flemish twist strings seems faster and quieter on both bows.

Shoot what you want on it. Either will work fine. The major difference is looks, flemish has become more associated with Trad nowadays and can be made up in mixed colors.

I shoot an endless loop string with two colors made by Deadsmple. Red and Gold.

I shoot Flemish twist because they are easy to make. I use B50 dacron because my bows are older and not fast flight compatible. Since I don't know what I'm missing, I remain blissfully ignorant!  :smileystooges:

I think Flemish strings are quieter. Most of the continuous loop strings I have seen are too bulky to suit me. I use 12 strands on my longbow and ten strands on my recurves.

As vermonster said, either will work. I think it is personal preference.
