300 Xtreme BH---How to make it pop hair!!!
« on: October 24, 2008, 11:29:00 PM »
I was having all kind of trouble making the 300 Xtreme BH sharp, so I called Bob Morrison today and he said that Joe Coots showed him how! Take a diamond stone 600 grit. Pull the head(don't push) once lightly on each of the three sides. Pull once, turn, pull once turn, and do the 60 times lightly which is 20 times per side. Spit on your leg and test all three blades and watch it pop hair. Don't use your arm cause it looks ugly. This is the new three blade 300 grain that Bob sells and now he takes PayPal. Ken

Thanks. I like how sharp they are out of the box, but they did need a little more. I only got one of them but I plan on getting more!

I was fortunate enough to be there when JC Coots showed Bob Morrison (and me) how to sharpen the broadheads. JC is a broadhead guru and has dozens of them in all shapes, sizes and weights, and he knows how to get them set up for hunting. I got some of the Xtreem broadheads from Bob after watching him and JC shoot them into all sorts of things, including rocks, with almost no sign of any impact even when hitting objects that would trash most broadheads. The Xtreems are by far the toughest broadheads I have ever seen, and some of the toughest metal I have ever been around too. JC shot an arrow tipped with a 300 gn field point that hit the back of one of the blades on an Xtreem. The impact sheared off half the field point but did not leave a mark on the Xtreem! That is a tough broadhead!!!! And the best point is not only that they are tough, but also that they get super sharp and stay that way.

Does anyone know if there are plans for a glue on version?

I don't see a glue on ever. There are adaptors for wood arrows to accept a screw on heads, with just a few extra grain that can't be bad. Chances are your arrow will need to be stiffer to accomdate the 300 gr head.

Woodsman heads are awsome, but a Xtreem in 175,200,and 250 would be the ultimate, because i do not think the point would curl like a woodsman.
Never measure the mountain until you have reached the top, then you will see how low it is.

We have been talking about a stainless VPA Terminator in the 175,200,250 grain.Just not sure if there will be enought people wanting them??? The 300 Xtreem will still be available at 300 grains,Maybe someday in the lighter weights.I know that the 300 xtreem is and should be in the same class as the $30 2 blade heads available today, the process to make this head is way over my head(not a great feat).

I've got an Xtreem all sharpened up good, waitin' to head up into the high country in a couple of days.  Hopefully we can find a big stinky bull to poke with that sharp head.

Just use the Simmons wheelie sharpener. It was my secret sharpener for years (before Simmons) and works on about everything. It's different than other wheel sharpeners. Wheels are bigger and are titanium not tungsten.
