Primos can call and grunt tubes

I decided to try my can call at the end of my sit yesterday. I grunted a buck right to me the other day and blew the shot so I figured I would try the can. I am a newbie so I didn't know how to do it correctly or what to expect. I did it a couple of times and sat. I hadn't seen anything all day in an area that I knew had deer.
Well it got dark, so I opened my blind and exited quietly to look for a place to set my blind next time.When I looked over the little knoll to my right, there were 2 does headed right towards my blind. They had spotted me as I came out of the blind and started walking. I'm not sure if they were coming because of the call or because that's where they were going anyway.
My question is, what time of day should I start to call? What is the proper technique for using the can and the grunt tube? What can I expect to attract with the doe bleat can?Will bucks come too? Can I use the can and the grunt tube together and how do I do it? Thanks for the help.

2 good turns on the can (bleat) then 3 grunts with the tub. I do it every 20 minutes or so. This year is slow, but will pick up soon.

DOEs, Fawns & Bucks will come in to the calls.

Yeah, I do the can 2 or 3 times every 15-20 minutes also..only deer I seen last year came creeping in to investigate the can bleat...too bad I was eating lunch in the blind....he was 25 yards to my left so when I moved he snorted like a crow and took off  :D

I used to "blind" call alot but now wait till I see a deer before calling. If a deer that you don't see gets a whiff of your scent and notices that the calls keep coming from the same direction, they will boogie out of there before you even see them.
 I like to keep my calls soft unless it's windy. I will occasionaly throw out a call or two during a sit, but I don't want to develop a pattern.

Hmmmm.... I've often wondered if deer disappear before I see them, but then since I didn't see them, I'm not sure how I would ever know that!      

Anyway, I shot the deer in my avatar last year after he came as if on a string to a doe bleat can.  I didn't know what I was doing - just bleated a few times every few minutes.

Brian, I never head into the deer woods without my can call, I haven't used a grunt tube in a couple seasons, the can call has done the job for me. It seems to work on bucks does and fawns, I use three to four calls in a series about every half hour if I'm no seeing deer, and I call to every deer I see if they look like they are not going to come my way.

I used the can last week, turned it over 4 times at 6:20 pm. Here's what came in! I was calling "blind", having not seen the deer beore I called. I have used the can and grunt tube together in the past with similar results, especially if I've seen a buck that was walking away. Just keep calling...you have nothing to lose!

I do much of the same.  Turn the can 3 times, and follow up with a series of tending grunts.  I do blind call.  I brought in a 141" 11 pt last year that I probably wouldn't have even seen otherwise.

I also like using a snort-wheeze, but usually only when I can see deer and work off of their reaction.  I pulled in two bucks year before last using that tech.  Took a 114" 7 pt that way.
 
Lastly, a fawn-in-distress call works well to bring in does.  I put it up when the rut hits, it doesn't have nearly the effect.
