Tonkin Bamboo limbs pictures
« on: October 29, 2008, 11:40:00 AM »
Just wondering if anyone has pictures of limbs that have Tonkin Bamboo as the lams or veneers.

I'm thinking about getting a bow with a dark riser...Wenge or Black Walnut with dark fade stained Tonkin Bamboo limbs.  If you saw the bow in the last TBM by Lewis Hollow…that is the stain fade I'm talking about.

Thanks,

Josh

I will take a picture of my Tomahawk SS with tonkin bamboo and post it as soon as I can. But right now I've got to go.

B.glass...Sounds good!

I looked at the Dryad's home page and they have a very nice looking three piece longbow with Tonkin Bamboo limbs.

But I'd like to see more.

Tell DEAN to send you pictures of his old Mohawk with the Dirty BOO [Tonkin Cane] Limbs. That bow was an awesome looker! Or go to Mohawks web site Vince has a bunch of Tonkin limbed bows on his site.

Mine is not considered dirty. But it is darker that some I have seen. It seemed that I implied that mine was of the dirty variety.
I like the bamboo that is atleast as dark as mine or darker.

Guy's:
May I add a bit of correction. Tonkin Cane rarely comes is diameters larger than 2 1/2" at the butt end, its the cane that fly rod makers use. Too my knowledge nobody is making bows from it. What is commonly known as "Tree cane" is what bamboo bows are made of. It comes in diameters of 6 or more inches in diameter. You can not grind a flat lamination wide enough from 2 1/2" cane to make a bow. As far as "dirty" cane is concerned its nothing more than water stain, some real interesting patterns are found in that type of cane and make a beautiful bow under clear glass.
