deer taken time of day
« on: November 01, 2008, 05:07:00 AM »
What time of day did you take your best deer. As I look over the years it seems to be in that last hour of the day, just at dark. I never have had a good buck at mid day. HOw about you ? I also seem to get the most activity when the weather is about to change for the worst, rain or snow coming in. Seems that for me blue bird sky and the deer do not move.

thanks
Bill

longbowben you don't count, you have a horseshoe shoved up your a**! I'm cutting that tree down as soon as I kill my buck out of it again this year. Sorry, I got carried away.

I love the mornings. Usually first two hours.

My one and only buck, deer for that matter, was taken around 2:00 in the afternoon.  It was also during the rut though and he was cruisin' for a doe.  That may have affected the shot time.  I have seen the most deer though during the morning hours.

One and only, last light of evening. I've been wondering this also. Thanks for asking.

Evening has been my best times. A couple at first light....

Most sightings and shots for me have been in between 9:00 a.m.. and 11:30 a.m. Probably second best would be the last 1/2 hour of legal shooting light, which here in IN is 30 min. after sunset.

I've shot mine at just about all hours of the day.
Most of them between 9 ad 3 one at first light and one about an hour and a half before dark and one at last light.
Just have to be there when the move.
