Feathers...what kind?

Howdy yall, I was wondering if any of ya use goose feathers for fletches? I have some canadas and snows wing feathers and was wanting to see some pics of what they would look like. What about Turkey tail feathers?

There was a link here not too long ago about goose feathers...in short, it said they were water resistant.....held up pretty good, but ya couldnt dye em or they lost their natural repelling oils....

Goose feathers work well for fletching especially in wet weather. I've used them as well as turkey primary, secondary and tail feathers for fletching. Pat

I've never used goose feathers but I've heard good things. Some feathers maybe be better than others in terms of availability or durability, but I think just about any feather will do for fletching as long as you can get the length and height you need.

Turkeys hadn't been invented back in medieval England so they used goose feathers mostly. They stood up pretty well at Agincourt and Crecy, and it rained pretty hard there apparently. Now, getting a goose to give up some of his prize primaries might be a bit of a problem, those things are mean!!

I recieved a bag of goose feathers two weeks ago. I'm still working on them. I'm looking forward to releasing one at a deer in October or November.

Goose feathers work well.  Have been using Canada goose feathers on and off for years.  Very good water repellancy.  They don't stand up as well as turkey feathers to brush and and other things that catch on feathers.  Still fairly sturdy though.
