Anyone try deck sealer on wood arrows?

I was making some birch arrows and noticed some leftover Cabot Australian oil sealer. I thought, what the heck and brushed it on an arrow. After it dried, I deburred it with steel wool and then gave it one coat of tung oil. It is the best finish I've ever gotten.
Anybody else try this? Any drawbacks? Thanks

I have not tried the deck sealer. But I'am sure it would work great as its made for outdoor use and a pretty tough finish.I have been using Brichwood & Casey gun stock tru oil on my shafts for 15 or so years and it seems to work great also..bd

I've used Fromby's tung oil for years. Although it is an oil, it dries like any other finish. I've never had a problem with glue on the fletches or the head. Same is true so far with the deck seal. The deck seal seems to do the job after just 1 coat plus 1 coat tung oil whereas going with just tung oil takes 3-4 coats plus a stain to begin with.
