does anyone have success with them & do they have similar characteristics to any popular woods? are they very light, or durable at all?

I'm using native cane(Arundinaria appalachiana) for my hunting arrows this year. With stone points they weigh between 550gr to 650gr for 29" arrows. Cane arrows are the toughest arrow material I have ever used. They are a bit more work than store bought shafts but well worth the effort.
Because of the natural taper of most cane shafts and their quick recovery and durability they outshine most other natural arrow material.
There are other bamboos that work well for arrows, also.      Pat

What Pat said! I'm thinking I will never buy another carbon shaft. I have alot of arrows that I've tried over the years and for economy and flight characteristics, cane does just fine. I can't comment on durability yet. I plan to do all rabbit hunting with them. That should tell me something! Since finding out about EFOC I've had new horizons opened up for me.
