no travel insurance cover while hunting???!!
« on: November 16, 2008, 10:49:00 PM »
:banghead:
i'm into organising travel at the moment for my canadian working holiday. just found out that no one covers you while you are participating in hunting activies! including if you are working as a guide or helping out packing meat/skinning etc. which is what i could possibly be doing while i'm there. question is- what have us aussie hunters been doing for insurance. eg, going over for a guided hunt, you slip over on a mountain somewhere, hurt yourself and need medical treatment? up #%^&creek without a paddle.

Sky diving and bungie jumping would be the same thing I fear. Better tell 'em your going on holiday, maybe hiking?.

Our personal health insurance in the states does cover us on hunting trips, friend.

Talk to your insurance agent about it and see what type of coverage is available for you. There is coverage for almost anything- the only thing that matters is- does the premium make sense given the circumstances?

This should be what you need.  Prices are not bad either.  I can put you in touch with people who have used it with good results.

Clint, look on the bright side! When I hunted goats in BC, I asked them, "what would happen, if I fell off the mountain?", they said, "we will hang your body over a log, so when it stiffens up, it will fit nicely over a horse, so we can pack your body out on the trail." If the horse bucks you off the mountain there, insurance is only going to benefit, your next of kin!
