Arrow building questions...
« on: November 17, 2008, 04:43:00 PM »
I have two questions related to arrow building.
1. When you wrap tread around and up your fletching, what do you use to seal the thread to the shaft, if anything?

2. I was at a shoot this weekend and saw some hardwood reinforced nocks explode. So I was wondering if anyone knew of a place to get horn to make inserts from?

Thanks in advance!
Dan

raptorarchery.com would be a good bet for sure, and they are a sponsor.

Dano,
3Rivers sells some horn blocks that nock reinforcements can be cut from and when wraping feathers I don't seal the thread to the shaft but I do put a coat of "super glue" on the leading and trailing end to keep them from pulling up.  dino

Thanks for the info!

Dino, I coated the super glued the ends down, then coated the tread with barge cement. Friends had told me to use Ducco. I just didn't have any.

Thanks again!
Dan
