I prefer socks which are 90% Merino wool.  The merino does not itch like ragg wool in my opinion.

"70% wool, 30% spandex, and 20% acrylic... hard to find, but worth it."

Yep. That is the perfect sock blend.

I recently bought from Cabelas the complete ECWS long underwear set....hat, shirt, pants, and socks. Polyester. The socks, with a smart wool over sock, allow me to wear non-insulated boots in the Michigan snow. I was out ALL DAY yesterday, with non isulated Schnee's bean style boots. No foot troubles at all. At one point I sat on a milk crate overlooking a swamp for 3 1/2 hours, my feet were fine.

By the way, this whole ECWS outfit is outstanding. Coupled with wool, I have not been cold on stand yet this year.
