GrizzlyStik Sitkas - Does this sound right?
« on: December 04, 2008, 10:16:00 AM »
Looking for a bit o' expert advice...

I'm shooting my RER XR 49# @ 26", and I'm in the process of picking out arrows ... I'm thinking the Sitka's, with the 75gr brass inserts, and either a 2 blade 150gr broadhead with the 100 gr broadhead adapter, or a 100gr insert weight with a 150gr broadhead.  Should bring my total arrow weight up to around 580 gr (approximately, depending on length of final arrow after tuning).  This would put me at just under 12 gr per pound.

My questions
A) Does this sound about right, or am I overlooking something?
and
2)  Will I have any problems getting the sitkas tuned to this bow?

Thanks in advance!

I am setting up a hunting rig for my boy and am looking at the same rig, for arrows/broadhead. Bow is vintage Wing Red Wing Hunter, 46#@28. Am curious what Sitka shooters have to say.

I don't know anything about your bow but I shoot sitkas at 26.5 inches out of a 45 pound bow and have 200 grains up front with the 75 grain insert.  So I am guessing you are pretty close.

I tried them  with 47# at 26in and could never get them tuned at all. They always want to hit the shelf. I did find thd the stiff side but they would not work for me. I went back to Beamans

Hey all

I am shooting a red wing hunter 45@28inches.

My Sitkas are cut at 29 inches with the 75 grain brass insert and 25 grain screwin addapter and a 2 blade 125 grain zwikey eskamo.  5 1/2 inch sheild cut fletching.  They fly like darts and smack into targets with athority.  Waiting for a properly retarded deer to step in front of me soon.  God knows the all the normal deer are to smart for me these days.
