The founder of Muzzy shot them all the time. I believe they actually started out as a head for traditional. I like Thunderheads more, but since I shot the Stinger 4blades I'm gonna stick with them.
I have some 125 phantoms and like them except putting on and taking off the bleeder is a pain in the butt. Almost sliced my hand a couple of times. I use them for practice and shooting at small game.

Brian, once you see how to slip the bleeders in and out. You won't have any problem and it will only take a second or two to place them in or out. My hunting partner is Mark Land at Muzzy and showed me the trick. The instructions are plain but I didn't pay enough attention to them to start with and like you cut myself. Maybe we can shame Mark into a tutorial on it. But it is really simple once you see it done.

Now Charlie, you know I don't mess around with broadheads once the deer season starts :-)
I've seen too many guys cut a finger and ruin a hunt. Be glad to show you after January 15th though!

I used Muzzy 100's for years with wheel bows, always liked them. I tried the Phantoms once, could not get them to spin true, so I never shot them. To me, the best three-blade "non-traditional" broadhead out there is the G5 Montec. It needs to be sharpened some, but it is very tough, and it is the most precise screw in I've ever tried. Screw 'em in, and they spin, every time. They shoot just like field points for me. Give 'em a try, you'll like them. Paul.

Yeah....that's the ticket!
My last trip to Africa there were two compound guys in camp shooting the Montec G5's. It could have been shot placement, most times that is why a broadhead "fails" but their PH's were out every night tracking wounded game while us tradguys were sitting around the fire, trophy's skinned.
Maybe not a fair assessment of any head but the G5's dropped to the bottom of all of our list that trip.

I went to 125 phantoms this year. I've been very impressed by them. I gotten complete pass thrus on both deer I've shot with them. The regular muzzy heads are great heads, but i haven't tried any of them out of a longbow because most everyone seems to recommend a cut on contact head.

I believe they still may, but they're glue "in" instead of glue "on". I've only seen them on Muzzy's website though.

I'm suprised to hear that, but that could of had something to do with bow tuning, excessively long shots, etc. I've gotten pass-throughs, good blood trails, etc. with them and had no complaints. I've just never seen another screw on that was so precise in terms of spinning true.

Hey Barry, we have a video clip on our website showing the assembly on those heads, might help you out till you can get a hands on demonstration. Go to
www.muzzy.com
highlight the Help button, click on Technical Support and look on that page for How to Assemble Muzzy Phantoms and that should do it. Good luck, Mark
Mark..I edited out the comma you put at the end of your web addy....that screws up the link.....

Yep that's all there is to it.
I cheat and handle the insert with a leatherman :-) But it's easy once you get the hang of it.
